Hey Kara. Hurry - check this out and spread the news to all your TwiNut buddies: http://www.librarything.com/topic/76290
Charity is never so lovely as when one has lost consciousness that one is practicing charity. 'You mean I helped you? I was enjoying myself. I was just doing my dance. It helped you, that's wonderful. Congratulations to you. No credit to me.

Anthony de Mello
Yeah, you do hear it everywhere, don't you? It was the same with Harry Potter before the last book was out.

So how have you been, Kara? Am busy with homework nowadays, so don't get much time to add stuff to the forums nowadays, but miss chatting to you.
Gosh, I'm so sorry. All this time I thought you hadn't replied and when you just posted your latest post, I scrolled down to see if I missed a message from you and found I had, and a long one too. Gah!

Know exactly what you mean about romance movies, but find that with movies in general nowadays, although my beef with them is how violent they are, and how overly sexual. The sexiest are when it's left to the imagination, not shoved in your face. As far as violent, I can't scroll through the digital guide without finding tons of violent movies. That's why I hardly watch t.v. anymore. Decided to put it on tonight though and have been watching Catch Me If You Can and Something's Gotta Give, both of which I enjoy. Have them both on video actually. Have you seen them? You probably wouldn't appreciate Something's Gotta Give coz it's a romance about older people. Jack Nicholson's playing a 63-year-old in it and his female interest is Diane Keaton.

Saw Schindler's List when it first came out, but haven't seen it since. It's very sad. That's the movie that put Ralph Fiennes on the map. He was amazing as the Nazi general. So convincing.

No, I didn't hear about that. What an awful thing to say, especially to somebody Jewish. What the heck were they thinking? It's cruel. Only trying to protect him? From what? What a load of baloney. I heard that someone called out to Obama, but said he was a liar. I've not actually watched any political stuff for months, so am really out of date with it. I read news online, but not regularly, so miss out on a lot.

Have heard Speak's really good, but haven't read it. Saw the movie last year though, which is ok. I would imagine the book's a lot better.

Have the flu by the way, so have been sick all weekend. Also, I get so much homework from college that I don't have time to keep up with Twilight news much anymore. It's only two months until New Moon comes out. If you're not into it much anymore, does that mean you don't want to go see it?
The clarinet's a wonderful instrument. There's a good movie you might like called Mr. Holland's Opus, which features a girl playing a clarinet. Have you seen it?

I don't see you posting in the forums anymore. You must be really busy. I miss seeing you around here. Many don't seem to be posting. It's sad.
Star student level? Wow. You smarty you. Am really proud of you. So does that mean you sing, or do you play an instrument? Are you going to be in a play? Don't tell me the name of it if you are coz that counts as personal info. and it's not safe putting that on the Internet.

What else have you been up to? Have you seen the latest Harry Potter movie yet?
Kara, where did you go? I haven't heard from you since July 2nd. I miss you. Come back. :(
It's done now except for the design, but I'm inviting buddies from here, the site I moderate and my friends on American Idol's site already. So far, two children are members and I just invited an adult. I have to do it in dribs and drabs between homework though coz I'm swamped at the moment, but it will give you time to design your page, get to know how the site works, and read the latest and greatest Adam news. :)
Thanks. :)
No! The torture! *Faints from the thought.*

*Opens one eye and says 'Look in the New Moon Movie group for a response to the pics thread from me coz I invited two buddies to join yesterday who are huge TwiHards.' Closes eye and passes out again.*
Ugh. Artist and Eminem do not belong in the same sentence. Hmm ... I just did it too. *Scratches head.*
Am not familiar with We Made You. The only act I remember is Eminem and it's always baffled me why anyone buys anything he releases. Anyone can talk through a song. He didn't sing one note that I remember. Is that the ... ok, let's call it a song ... that you mean?
The ONLY stuff worth watching was the Twilight stuff. The rest was rubbish. Talk about corny and gee, was any of it supposed to be funny? I love comedy, but that was bad. Didn't even see Adam and he was supposed to be there. The almost kiss between Rob and Kristen was kinda funny though and we got to see the Twilight quite a bit plus the trailer so those were the highlights for me.

Haven't seen The Dark Knight so don't have anything to compare it to. Is that the last movie Heath Ledger was in?
Here's your friendly nudge to watch this today ...

MTV Awards: http://www.librarything.com/topic/65731

:)
Gee, did I make up for lost time with that last message? ;)
Here's the voting info. and you can vote for 4.05 hours. As soon as the last song starts, the voting lines open up. That's 8:55 pm - 1:00 am! Adam needs as many votes as possible. :)

LAND LINE VOTES: 1- 866-436-5701 or 1-866-436-5703 or 1-866-436-5705

TEXT VOTES: 1-866-436-5701 ONLY!
~ Only send the word 'VOTE' to the 4 digit short code numbers you see on screen after each contestant has appeared. You cannot send a text message to the toll-free numbers.

Please vote for FOUR hours (extended voting time for 5-19-09). Calls from land lines are free. It's better to vote from a land line as you can get in triple the amount of votes!
i think it is bella but i dont know it looks lik her
Haven't even noticed. Isn't that bad? Have been so wrapped up with AI that I've hardly been on either. Well it's nearly over now anyway. Did you vote tonight?
Hey, I've updated the theme on my page and also the confessionals further down it. You should watch the confessionals coz they tell you a lot about Adam. Am adding these to my page too:

NEW: Feeling Good (top 5) stage version: http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j141/m...

I know. Spring is da bomb! Haha, thanks, I know I thought the pic was really funny. :D
Haha, to tell you the truth, I am sick of winter already. It has been raining pretty much all week. It was terrible yesterday b/c I went to the late night cinemas and I had to walk to my car which was across the road and on the other side of the parking lot and it was like 9:00 p.m. at night and it was raining and it was FREEZING. I don't mind rain at night or when I'm inside but grr, I hate it when it ruins my plans. :) I like spring the best, it's just warm enough and a little cloudy. Perfect. :D
I feel sorry for you. You are getting into summer and we are going into winter. I love winter but only when it's not raining. Rain sucks. I love summer because the clothes are comfortable e.g. t-shirts, shorts, tanktops .. but winter clothes are all stiff and thick and big e.g. trenchcoats, jeans, puffy jackets, scarves .. I love both seasons but if I had to choose. I'd choose summer. :)
Great pics, Kara. The big one of Bella's very sad, but it's meant to me so fits perfectly.

Hey don't forget that today is American Idol. Will you help me vote again please? I know you don't get in nearly as many votes as me, but every vote counts, especially when some think he's so safe that they don't vote. Here are some voting tips I've learned, which I've also posted on 1226's page (another Adam supporter):
.
.
VOTING TIPS

1. Lines open up five minutes BEFORE the show ends so you can start voting then to get in more votes.

2. You can vote in east coast times and west coast times. If you vote during east coast times, you cannot vote on the same phone during west coast times so this is only beneficial if you are using different phones to vote. Since many voters using two or more phones and it's a struggle to work with more than one, this is a good way to get in more votes as you're less likely to mis-dial.

3. When you dial the number on a land line for the first time, make sure you hear Adam's number so you know you dialed the right number. For all your calls after that, listen to first half of the first word only when you dial, then hang up and redial. You'll squeeze in more calls that way.

4. You can get in a LOT more votes on a land line. I got 10 votes in a minute. For 2.05 hours that's comes to 1,270 votes. I add 15 votes by my cell as well, but it's a T-Mobile phone so I pay for the minutes on that one.
Wow, that's still pretty hot. It doesn't get up to that alot. But this summer we had about 10 days straight of that heat. It was terrible - UGH :D
Thanks. Took me ages to make it.

One of these days I'll get around to reading Rules. Sounder sounds like a great one for my nephew once he's old enough. He's fanatical about dogs.
Yeah, there's that one too, but I meant the one I made yesterday and put at the top of my page that shows similar hairstyles.
I love that new widget on your page. What do you think of the big pic on mine?
See that's the thing. You seem like a teen.
It's probably because you're so mature and are into things older girls are normally into. What age are you? I've forgotten.
So when do you start Junior High? I got very excited too about starting secondary school in Hong Kong (but not when I went to boarding school) so hear ya. It can be very exciting. Are all your friends going there as well?
Adam's number will always be on my page below that big pic. It's the same every week minus the last number, which is his performance number. If he's the fifth to perform, that number will then be five. So you have it on your page, here's his number:

1-866-436-570__ (insert performance number)

:D
Ooh, that's much more than I expected. I thought you might get 10 in, or 20 hopefully, but 57? Woohoo to the moon. Am mighty proud of you for that. Thank you so much for helping. :D

So what did you think of his performance this week? You can see it on my page by the way. I added it. Need to update the results to show this week's instead now, plus the Ford commercial and group song, so will do that shortly.

The confessionals links don't work now though coz YouTube's taken them all down. You can get them on an IPOD via an app, but silly me isn't very acclimated with it yet. I downloaded the app, but it's not showing up on my IPOD for some odd reason. Adam makes a new confessional each week and I've not been able to watch this week's coz I can't get it to work. *Sniff*

That was a lovely gesture buying your mom a card by the way for making her sick. How did she react when you gave it to her?
By the way, it's American Idol tonight. Are you well enough to help me vote (20 times or more if you're allowed)? ;)
Hey, nice new widget, Kara. Sorry you were sick. That's not much fun at Easter. Did you get any Easter goodies? I had a lovely time. We went to church on Sunday followed by a champagne brunch with some friends. My friend drank my champagne though coz someone had to drive. I was really stuffed afterwards. Didn't even eat dinner later coz I was still full.
Would you mind reminding me on Monday if you remember? My friend and I are going to stay with her mom further up the coast for Easter weekend and I won't be back until Monday. Am really looking forward to seeing them. :)
Here ya go. You get to see Adam as a baby. Aw ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u4K__o9O...
No, it's free to join. I hope you join soon. It's a lot of fun. Why don't you ask your friends and family to join as well so we can get more involved? This is my challenge to you:

Last week, I dialed Adam's number on my land line and before it even revealed his number, I hit the hang-up button, then redial. I timed this for one minute, noting the amount of votes, which was 10. I kept this up that fast for two hours. Then I calculated the votes based on that minute so 10 x 120 minutes = 1,220 votes. My challenge for you is to mimic that.

My goal being to break American Idol's record of the most votes for an American Idol in its history (though I also urge others to download his music and pre-order it too) so try to get friends and family involved too. You could make a race of it to see who gets the most votes. Grandparents, aunts and uncles will probably love to help. ;)

He's the legend of your generation so helping him reach his dream is exciting stuff. Woo!
Does that mean you're going to vote for Adam until your fingers go numb next week? ;)
Oh by the way, thank you for voting for Adam this week. That made me really happy. It might only take one less vote to put someone in the bottom three (not that I think he could ever be in it) so every vote counts. How about making it 20 next week? ;)
Ooh, your page has grown and with all my favorite things too. *High fives you.*

Ya know, I have to admit to being transfixed by the number 1,220 myself. Would have laughed myself silly if you'd told me last season I would even vote let alone do so non-stop for two two hours straight, but Adam is so worth it. Can't wait until he wins ... or perhaps I can coz then they'll be no more AI for another season and *sobs* I'll have to wait until I see him in the AI tour. My friend and I are getting tickets. Hope we manage to get them right up near the stage. Might have to camp overnight or something. :D

I think Anoop should sing the type of music he likes most so he's true to himself as an artist, but he pick the right song for his range. Having said that, I'd like to see him take a risk by moving away from R&B and pop to try something else so we can see what else he's capable of. He may find he really enjoys it.

There are some really good videos of Anoop on YouTube. He was in a group in his university in North Carolina called UNC Clefhangers. They remind me of The Backstreet Boys or NSync. Here's a link so you can check them out: http://www.youtube.com/user/clefhangerfa.... He needs to move on from his 80s Michael Jackson outfits to new ones each week to match his song or at least modern ones. I always feel like I'm stepping back in time when he walks onto the stage. He has a lovely voice, but isn't picking the best songs. Loved the one in Motown week though. It was my fave of him so far. In fact, I should look up the studio version of it on YouTube coz the studio versions are always very different.
Woo. Your page is amazing. Of course, I'm pretty biased. ;) Did you vote for Adam this week? I got 1,220 votes in! Thought my fingers were going to drop off. Every time I tried switching fingers or ears for the phone, I messed up, so went back to the same fingers and they were practically numb by the time I got to the deadline. Was worth it though. :)

My bottom three predictions were Megan (going home), Matt and Anoop with Allison right above them so I was off with Matt and Allison. If Anoop won't listen to the judges constructively next week during his critique, I think he'll have a strong chance of going home then.

Loved Scott this week. Looked very handsome with his new do and his song choice was his best of the season. Replayed him several times singing his part of the group Journey song too coz he sounded so amazing in it (so did Megan). I loved the group song this week and last week. The Ford commercial was great last week, but all those pieces in it this week were too mismatched.

The theme next week is "Songs of Their Birth Year" and that's 1982 for Adam. My top three preferences for him are these:

Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYPcY15Ja...
Abracadabra by The Steve Miller Band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5pyAjde5...
White Wedding by Billy Idol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AofzLsvTs...

I miss my glam rocker Adam and would be in my element if he chose one of those, especially if it was Bad to the Bone. All were big sellers, especially Bad to the Bone and White Wedding, which have been replayed consistently on the radio since their release. If he sang one of those, it could earn him back a LOT of voters spanning age groups since those songs would appeal to fans of all ages. Ooh, I'm loving next week's theme. Woo.
Mmm ... choccie mints.

Taylor's really beefed up the muscles and is at that age where he's maturing fast body and face-wise as well so I don't see that as a problem. He's the most handsome of all the werewolves by a long shot too from what I've seen of their pics at www.newmovieorg.com.

Adam won't be leaving. He's beyond the others in talent (vocal range, image, stage presence and showmanship - the whole package) by a mile. No one gets the crowd roaring as much as he does. As Paula says, "I feel like I'm at an Adam Lambert concert" and it's like that with every one of his performances.

He was going to perform Crazy (which he's sang before), but found out only a day before that he wasn't granted permission so had only a day to come up with Play That Funky Music. Pretty amazing considering that, don't you think?

Wasn't keen on the contrast in his image this week though. Was like Leave It To Beaver (the sweater with undershirt) in flares (bell-bottoms) and an Elvis do - too many contrasts, which didn't work for me. Adam and a Leave It To Beaver look with sexy moves just doesn't work. It's like watching Donny Osmond grunt and grind, plus he looked about 10 years younger so it felt kind of creepy. No thanks. Flares (bell-bottoms) were very 70's so matched the song choice, but the rest looked bizarre. I want Adam, the glam rocker, back next week.
Spot on, sunshine. It's Volturi. *High fives you.* Will be interesting to see how Hollywood comes up with a sheer-like onion-skin or however Marcus' and Aro's skin is described. It's something like that. Do you remember? If not, I'll bet you a choccie chip cookie that Nicky does. It's the results on AI tonight so I can make two more - one for you and one for me. Will eat yours on your behalf of course. ;)

Yes, the werewolf does look very Hollywood-like, but sure gets your blood pumping the way it leaps at you like that.

If you put searches in quotes, it narrows your search. For instance, type "new moon trailer" and a bunch should come up on many pages. Am just about to add a new one to the bottom of my page so check it out. :)
Oh they annoy the heck out of me those things. Whoever's done that has done it for videos other than Twilight. I can't stand Rick Astley, but to get to that many of him gets really annoying. Gah. Hey, I've added the video of Adam's latest performance on my page if you're interested, plus I found an amazing New Moon video the day before yesterday that will be just above my comments so check it out. :)
No, I wasn't planning on reading the rest in the Twilight series...I can't really say that I found Twilight to be all that great. I definitely see the appeal, but it wasn't my cup of tea. I actually only read it b/c I felt that as a youth services librarian I should be familiar with what's popular! =p
Aw. Would you like to use it? You're welcome to.
Yeah, they're all so funny! but how embarrassing (sp?) to be that interviewer - even though she was acting it's still pretty embarrassing b/c they would think that she was saerious! :P
haha yeah.. he's just like *points at girl* I'm not doing that! lol he was heaps funny! i love how Rob just cracks up laughing and then gets told to walk away! it would have been funny to see what he would have done if he stayed! :P
yeah, thats kinda my thing.. (radomness and confusing people) :P

yeah Twilight pretty much rules my life at the moment, i'm just a tiny bit obsessed.. :D
ya it was tons of fun
HAHA :) Be my guest :)
my aunt surprised me with it
well for my march break i have to right a 5 page book report, a major french project but my hilight(sp?)was going to a britney spears concert it was awsome and your profile picture is that your dog?
i like my squirel too what have you been up to?
Thanks, I love them too :) I have like a BAJILLION pictures of him :)
I'm really impressed that your dad has that book. It has more appeal for women I think. My dad might watches stories like that on t.v., but he'd never read it. I'm guessing your dad's got a lot of great books.
Why don't you take it out of the library so it's free? Since it's a classic, they should have it. I look books up online on my library's website and order online the ones I want to read. When the book arrives at my branch (you choose the branch you wish to pick it up from), the library sends me an email to let me know and gives me eight days to pick it up. Why don't you ask your library if they have the same kind of service?

If you look in the Hermee's Choices thread in Bookmates (http://www.librarything.com/topic/57294 - post 13), you'll see I have two stacks listed to read. Have read The Good Thief and am currently reading the ones listed on my profile page with pics of each book below them. Once I get through those, I can read it, but it will take me a few weeks. Silly me for ordering too many at once.
There's a great one you can type when you're shivering with cold ... b-b-b-brrrr. ;)

Got a classics book from a book sale last year that I've yet to read. Might add to my list in Bookmates once I've gotten through this giant stack. Perhaps we can read it together if it interests you. It's called Woman in White and is by Wilkie Collins.
You said "i always add extra Rs to stuff, it's one of my many bad habbits." Had to chuckle coz you added two B's in habits. ;)

Mostly I read The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti, which was truly amazing. Technically, it's for adult's, but is told from the perspective of a young boy who's grown up in an orphanage. One of his hands is missing and he's always wondered what happened. One day a man comes to claim him and he's not sure if the man, who claims to be an uncle, really is related to him. It's a tale of their life together and in the end he finds out what happened to his hand. It's full of action and the ending is brilliant although there it is sad in part too. It's now one of my fave books of all time and is on my list of books I plan to buy coz it's one I want to read again and again. It's that good. It has a few sinister parts, but I highly recommend you read it. :)

I was also reading Magic and Misdemeanors, the fifth Sisters Grimm book by Michael Buckley. Wasn't quite at the halfway mark, but finished it yesterday. It's one of my fave series. Have you read any of them yet?
Am not sure how either, Kara, so asked on Friday in one of the threads. It was in the New Moon Movie group I think. Will let you know if I find out. :)

Oh and Clarinet is the correct spelling so you just had an extra R is all. ;)

Did you have a nice weekend? I read a lot this weekend.
hayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love ur pic. so later

write back

perkydakota
Righteo. What instrument do you play?
Hey, Kara. Please check out this thread ok coz you may enjoy some of these books and they're free if you snag them: http://www.librarything.com/topic/59493&.... There are 10 on the list this month for children/teens plus many others you may enjoy as well. :)
Am going to sleep now, Kara. Have a nice evening. Cya tomorrow. :)
Haha. That was really funny. :D
A psychopath coz you love a book series? It's people who don't love books who are ... well ... crackers (loonytoons). :D
You're not scary, you're besotted and there's nothing wrong with that. :) I have a pic like that of Bella too, but she's looking in the other direction the way she does when Edward leaves her.
Yeah. Really makes me think of him in that dramatic scene where he's about to take his shirt off and hears Bella, so full of love for her that he thinks he's hearing her in his mind.
Hi, Kara. Below I've listed what I've learned since I joined, which I thought I'd share with my buddies as you might find it useful. It's really long, so I'd recommend opening up a Word document (you need to open Word first for it to work), then highlighting this whole message and pasting it in a new document in Word. Then you can print it so you can display it in front of you while you explore stuff. The links might not work that way, but if you keep this message on your Profile page, you can click on them on your page to get to them.

1. ADDING BOOKS: When adding books to your library, it's easier if you type the ISBN number in the white box after clicking on the "Add books" tab at the top of your page. That way, it will find the edition you own (useful if a book has many editions, i.e. The Hobbit). You can find the ISBN number on the back cover of your book at the very bottom. It's right above the bar code.

2. TAGS: You can sort each book by tags if you wish and can add as many tags to each book as you like. Just click on the book title in the "Add books" section or the pencil to the right of the book row in the "Your library" section to get to the section where you can add stuff. Then in the tags box, add the tags you wish, separating each one with a comma and space. For instance, for Lord of the Rings, you might do this: fantasy, mythical creatures, own, books read in 2009. For those I own, I add "own" as a tag and adding "books read in 2009" helps you track books you read by year. For those books I add that I don't own, but want to read, I add "must read" and "library - next order" as tags. Then when I want to order books online from my library (they email me when they're ready to be picked up coz some come from different branches and/or are on a waiting list), I go to that tag to order the ones I feel like reading next.

3. TAGS TAB: The Tags tab shows you your tags. If you decide you'd like to rename it, hover over the tab and click on Edit. Then type the new name in the box that pops up.

4. GROUPS TAB: The Groups tab is a good thing to explore as well. Once you click on it, click on Complete List on the right and you'll all the groups on Library Thing. There are tons. After clicking on one that interests you, if you decide you'd like to join it, just click on Join This Group at the top right. You can click on Leave This Group in the same spot if you decide to leave it later.

5. RECOMMENDED GROUPS: If you're a Twilight fan, I'd highly recommend joining Twilight Club (there's one where TwilightClub is one word, but I mean the one where it's two words), New Moon Movie and Edward Cullens Lovers. Those are the most active. Also, I check Twilight news daily and am constantly adding the latest news I find to Twilight Club and sometimes New Moon Movies as well so you can keep up with the latest that way.

There are loads of other Twilight/vampire groups as well plus you might find one for your fave author on the list. There are also groups for children's fiction and teen readers, plus fantasy and fairytales fans among the list.

A really good group to join is "Name that book". If you're struggling to remember a book title, you can add a thread to it with information you remember about a book and ask members if it rings any bells. You'd be surprised how many know which book you mean based on the smallest amount of information or age of the book.

6. CREATING YOUR OWN GROUP: If you'd like to create your own group, it's easy. Just go to the "Groups" tab at the top and click on "Create a new group" on the right. It's best to click on "Complete list" first though to see if there's one for the same topic already. There are many Twilight groups, for instance, so members can miss out on current news if they're not part of all of them. It's easier to track stuff when there's one, or one by age group if members want to categorize them that way.

7. TALK TAB: The Talk tab shows you threads that have the latest chat for the groups you're in so you can track conversations that way.

8. LOCAL TAB: If you click on Local, you can add local bookstores, but as you're a child/teen (since I'm not sure which), I'd advise you not to add yours for safety reasons.

9. ADDING FRIENDS:

a. The easiest way to add friends though is when you're on someone's Profile page already that you want to add. Then you just click on "Add to Friends" at the top right.

b. Another way is to click on Find Friends under the Search tab at the top right on your Profile page, then Edit/View Connections at the top. It's best to do it this way rather than signing into your email account. I don't trust the security personally when it comes to typing in my password for another site. It's one more place where it can be hacked into. After clicking on Edit/View Connections, you can add your friend's name on the right. You could ask them to join the way I asked you, for instance. Then you could look up their Library Thing name to add them as a friend. After adding their name in that box, click on Search to find them. It will take you to their page. Then click on Add Friend's List at the top right.

10. MEMBERS WHO HAVE YOUR BOOKS IN THEIR LIBRARY: Once you've added books, it will show you on the right of your page which members share your books and how many they share. Sometimes I visit their pages to look at their libraries and read their page. Have made a few friends that way and also found some really good books in their libraries which I've added to my own for future reading. If you like someone's library, you can click on "Add to interesting libraries" on the right of their profile page (as you did with me) and it will appear on your page on the right under the Member Connections section.

11. HOME TAB: If you click on your "Home" tab, you'll see "Customize your page" in very small print near the top. You can change how your home page looks that way so it only includes information that interests you or that you want visitors to your page to see.

12. TOOLS TAB: There's a "Tools" tab at the top right that you may wish to check out. It teaches you how a lot of stuff works. Also, if you click on the Groups tab, then Site Talk on the left, you can ask questions there about things you don't understand or just to query whether it's possible to do something on this site. Have always gotten responses the same day.

13. HEADINGS BELOW TABS: Below your tabs at the top of your Profile page, you'll also see several headings to click on that you can explore as well.

14. ADVANCED COPIES OF BOOKS FOR FREE: Every month a list of advanced copies of books is posted. You can sign up for free advanced copies of books each month too. The second month I requested some, I got one in the mail. The catch is you have to write a review that's more than 40 words in your own words, but that's really easy. To sign up, go here, but it's best to ask your mom first coz you have to put your address: http://www.librarything.com/er/signup. They only use that to send you books though. Your name and address aren't published anywhere. They only publish your user name.

Once you've signed up, go to your "Profile" tab, then click on "Edit profile/account settings" on the right, then "Account" at the top left and then click inside the circle to the left of "Allow LibraryThing to give reviews to both non-commercial and commercial entities (booksellers, swap sites, publishers, authors, street gangs)", then Save Changes at the bottom. If you do that, you're more likely to get a book you've requested. I read it in the FAQ section.

They don't add many books for children/teens, but this month there are four or five on the list so you should take a peek. You'll see that many have requested books, but don't worry about that. They don't go on a first come, first served basis. It's based on books in your library, whether you've added reviews for books before and other reasons. They explain it here: http://www.librarything.com/wiki/index.p...

To see the list of books of February, just click on this: http://www.librarything.com/er/list. Then go down the list and click on "Request it" for books that interest you. You can request as many as you like. The flags on the right below the Request it button show what countries the books are available in. There are a couple only available in Canada, for instance, so the publishers will only send those to people who live in Canada.

15. ADDING WHAT YOU'RE CURRENTLY READING TO YOUR PROFILE (see my profile for an example):

a. Click on Edit profile/account settings at the top right of your page and type something like this in EITHER the "About Me" box or the "About my library" box:

Currently reading Magic and Other Misdemeanors by Michael Buckley (book five in The Sisters Grimm series)

b. Add a blank line between the text and following code so it's not all bunched up together.

c. Copy the following code onto the next line, but in order for me to show you how the code looks, I need to add four spaces show it shows you the code so you'll have to delete those afterwards (the space after < at the beginning; the space before and the space after the < that's before img style; and the space before > at the end):

< a href="/work/2946544/book/35347918"> < img style="height:100px; border:1px solid black;" src="___________________________________" >

The line isn't supposed to be there. That is to show you where the code goes for the book you're currently reading. To get the code for that spot, go to the book in your library and click on the book title. Right click on the big book cover at the top left and choose "Copy Image Location" from the menu that pops up.

16. ADDING A WIDGET TO YOUR PROFILE: There are two New Moon widgets here if you'd like to add one or both to your profile that can be found at http://www.newmoonmovie.org/release-date....

At the top left of both widgets (pics with countdowns to the movies in this case), it says SHARE in tiny letters. Click on that, then either click on COPY or double click on the code in the box to copy it.

Now go to your profile page, click on "Edit profile/account settings" and put your cursor in the "About me" or "About my library" box at the place in that box where you'd like the widget to appear. Then click on Save at the bottom of the page.

If you click on your profile tab at the top now, voila! You'll see your snazzy new widget.

17. ADDING A MUSIC PLAYLIST TO YOUR PROFILE:

a. Click on http://www.myflashfetish.com.

b. Click on "Login" in the top right corner.

c. Click on "Sign Up Now" in the middle of the screen.

d. Fill in the information, but please don't upload a picture as it is not safe. For the email address, it's best to create a free MSN email address and use that one and not one your parents pay for that may also have your real name in it.

e. Once you've created an account, sign in on the left with your email address and password.

f. Click on the "Home" tab in the top left corner.

g. Type the name of a song in the search box near the top right corner, then click on "Search MP3".

h. You'll now see a list of songs. Some of these work and some don't so you need to test them first to find one that works. On the right of each one is a speaker icon and a cart icon. Click on the speaker icon next to one of those songs.

i. A vertical red stripe will appear on the left under that song with blue beside it. If it worked, the red stripe will quickly shoot across the horizontal box and then the blue will start to move to the right. This means that link works.

j. Double click inside the box above that horizontal box to highlight the code. You have now copied it.

k. Click on the MP3 tab at the top.

l. You will see a red thing in the middle of the page that looks like a key. Click on "Create" underneath that key.

m. You will see a box at the bottom with two columns and six rows. This is called a playlist and you can add up to six songs here by adding the title of each one on the left and the code to each song on the right. When someone goes to your page and stays there, the playlist will play through each of those six songs. In order to add six songs, you will need to open http://www.myflashfetish.com in another Internet window so you can use one window to search for songs and the other to add the code to this playlist. This is not necessary, however, if you want to add just one song.

n. Add the title of the song you just looked up to the left side of the top row.

o. Put your cursor in the top right box, right click your mouse (click on the right button) and choose "Paste". The code you copied earlier will now be in that box.

p. Once you have copied all the song titles and code into the boxes, you are ready to choose the color of your key.

q. On the left, drag the scroll bar down to see all the color choices and click on the one you'd like.

r. Below the boxes on the right is a button that says "Add MP3's". Click on that.

s. Everything in the boxes has now disappeared, but that's what's supposed to happen. In the bottom right corner, click on the red button that says "I'm Done".

t. You will now be on a page that has two boxes with code. Place your cursor inside the BOTTOM box (it will probably say "Embed Code" above it) and double click to copy the code. (Double clicking on top of that code is how you copy it. If that doesn't work, highlight the code, then right click on the highlighted part and choose COPY from the little menu that pops up.)

u. Now go to your profile page on Library Thing and click on "Edit profile/account settings" at the top right.

v. There are two places you can add this on your page. One is in the "About me" box and the other is the "About my library" box. Place your cursor at the spot in the box of your preference where you want the music to appear, right click your mouse (click on the right mouse button) and choose "Paste" from the little menu that pops up.

w. Click on "Save" below the box.

x. Click on the "Profile" tab at the top of the page and you will now see and hear your playlist. Woo!

Ok you can rest now. Phew!
